I bought this book as a present for my wife. When she unwrapped it we started reading the book cover. It alone would have been worth the money. We had tears in our eyes from laughing. Any real Cubs fan is going to love this.Rich Wolfe is the self-proclaimed "best-selling sports author in America", and I have no reason to doubt it. You are as likely to come across his books in the local supermarket or drugstore as in the bookstore and he knows how to churn out topical volumes and market them effectively and often regionally. As in nearly all of his books, FOR CUBS FANS ONLY is a collection of entertaining and diverse stories on the topic at hand-in this case the excruciating yet lovable baseball team. Although Wolfe largely serves as the collector and presenter of these stories, you may occasionally find him inserting the odd joke or funny quip. What one is left with is an enjoyable volume for the dedicated sports fan and light reader. Though this is a rough collection, I believe that any true fan will find it enjoyable, funny, and worthwhile to own.Jeremy W. ForstadtMy brother-in-law gave me this book for Christmas a few years back, and this is a good year to pull it out and re-read it again. Yes, it's been 100 years since the Chicago Cubs won the World Series. The longest dry spell in baseball history. Every Cubs fan knows that 2008 is the year that Soriano, Lee, Theriot and Fukudome take our team to the top! This book will always remind us card-carrying Die-Hard Cub Fan Club members (I've had my card for over 20 years now!) of all the laughter (and tears) as we struggled to be the best this year!!! (YES!!! This IS the year!!! No doubt about it!)
